Get to know Me

2020- Semester Two: Design Research II- GRAD604
Interactive Media Navigations

Natural Thoughts
“A graphic design and multimedia exploration of the subjective meanings of a place.”
Lake Panorama is my place of serenity; a place for me to escape from the busyness of life. A place where I can release stress as well as enjoy the natural environment.
For this project, I focused on the idea of mental health and its relationship/connection with nature and natural environments through Lake Panorama. (specifically my connection with this place.) Regarding design work, I have been researching and testing out ways to incorporate literal transfers and abstract elements into my typography, illustrations and other pieces of my work to help show the ethos of this place.

2020- Semester One: Materials and Media III- GRAD603
Breathe
“Exploration of the meanings of place through game design.”
‘Breathe’ was a game that I had created based on Lake Panorama. The main concept behind the game was linked to the main idea I had explored in my studio paper which was about mental health.
I wanted to create a relaxing yet fun game while capturing the essence of my place in terms of physical appearance as well as the concept behind the place. Moreover, this game was created not only to entertain and ease the user’s mind but also to remind people to slow down and relax. (Hence the title.)

2019- Semester two: Design Studio II- GRAD501
The Bigger Picture
“A project based on a member of a community.”
I chose Franz for this project because I wanted to find out more about ‘the guy behind the muscles.’ Spending time with him in three different environments showed me the depth behind who Franz Arevalo is and that there was more to him than his appearance.
