AUT South Campus: (Week 2-3)

FIRST PHOTOSHOOT OF AUT SOUTH CAMPUS:

With this photograph, I experimented with the use of depth of field where I focused more on the person rather than the tree itself. I liked this photograph because the photo itself is like a tunnel. We are peeking between two parts of the tree to look at the person which looks like a ‘light at the end of the tunnel.’

I think that this photograph could be quite useful for our publication for we can see that the girl in the photo is looking/ possibly searching for something- probably a journey (which is our main focus on the publication.)
With this photograph, I edited it a bit just to give more warmth within the photograph and I think that it turned out quite well.

Most people at the South campus like the quietness/calmness that this campus brings as well as the warmth and the kindness that people bring to the South campus, which is why I wanted to give it more of warmer feeling with warmer tones.

(Side note: I took this photograph behind our studio classroom.)
This photograph was chosen because at the time, I noticed that this lemon was by itself and isolated from the other lemons which more clustered. I felt like it represented the way AUT was as a campus geographically. AUT south is on its’ own and less busy whereas compared to the city campus where it is beside another university and it is much more busier than South campus.

Moreover, South campus is very green in terms of having lots of tress and green hills. Also, they have quite a few Lemon tress too.
This photograph was taken from the main entrance of AUT south campus. Moreover, I also edited this photograph to have the same warm feeling of the other photograph. I chose this photograph, because it was quite simple and straightforward by having the AUT logo in the photograph itself. Also, this links back to our theme about the journey of the people from South Campus.

I took a photograph of the entrance because entrances are usually seen as the beginning of a building- where it would be the first place people would see. In terms of journey, it represents the beginning of peoples journey at South Campus.
Lastly, I chose this photograph because of the layout of the photograph itself. It shows us a student entering the campus which creates this journey feeling. It feels like we are about to follow her into campus or we are following her.

Additionally, I edited this photograph with warm tones yet again and I wanted to emphasise the colour yellow of her beanie which relates back to the lemon tree. I wanted her to be the main focus of the picture, where she is the first thing your eyes are drawn too when looking at this photo.

Also, the people is what makes South campus unique. Most people we interviewed about their likes about this campus was the people, which is why I tried to make her (the student) the attention point of the photo.
