Prototype One (Week 4):

The making of prototype one: (MVP)

So for this week, we were tasked to start creating our game. In the process, we had to keep our place in mind and build our game around our chosen place from studio.

Plot Idea: So for my first plot, I had an idea of using stress as the antagonists e.g work, uni, social media, family and relationship problems and society’s problems. The goal of the game is about trying to find peace, removing all the stress (antagonists) away from your place while earning rewards along the way. (I tried to keep my ideas and themes in mind from studio.)

The process:

For the first prototype, I decided to create a quick layout of the Lake only making small pinpoints like the bridge and the ledge. I had used fake plants, ferns and crepe tissue paper for the water. Also, I tried to keep it simple so that there would be room for improvement when creating, illustrating the game design.

(These were my character ideas for the game I made out of model-lying clay.) For the design ideas, I did not want to make it too scary but more playful and cute like because I want my player to feel peace and fun while playing the game which is what the emotions of my place are.

Antagonists:

The earth character: This character represents the stress you may feel from the world and society problems.

The clock character: This character represents time. Sometimes, we get get so carried away with the world, and get so busy we forget to make time for ourselves. At times, we forget to check our mental health and don’t get enough rest for ourselves.

The phone character: This character represents, technology and social media. Social media is another stressful thing that can affect our mental health and emotions.

The book character: This character represents our school work and our jobs. We spend most of our time either at school studying and finishing assignments and or at work and it can sometimes drain us physically as well as emotionally.

Protagonist:

Overview of the game setup. (My plot or designs might change as I develop my game design.)
