Type Moodboards: (Week 5-6)

Moodboard 1:

For Moodboard 1, it showcases typefaces that are connected to nature, like leaves, plants, trees and anything to do with outdoors. Some are hand-drawn while others are digital. I think for this moodboard, I was drawn to the nature aspect of my place which is why I chose nature like fonts. Regarding the emotions of peace that I feel at my place, I can’t help but think of script fonts and calligraphic fonts. When I think of fonts that relate to peace I think of more naturalistic fonts which is why I am also drawn to hand-written fonts and the way calligraphy fonts look like. The way they curve and have this movement within its fonts. I find it soothing. But at the same time, handwritten or thin calligraphy fonts can be sometimes be messy and unreadable too.

This moodboard also is made up of more wavy typefaces where it represents movement. Some are more readable and less wavy as others, while others are just mixed to the point where the font is unrecognisable and we see an image rather than text. Another sets of fonts I see is, is the idea of a font made up of small wave parts like the X and the Q in the top left corner of the moodboard. Also, another idea I liked was how someone had letters out of of photographs by possibly using a clipping mask of the letter shapes. (which is something I could possibly try out too.)

Moodboard 2:

For Moodboard 2, it is made up of more hand-drawn fonts and handmade fonts like the water alphabet, dirt font, and the beach related alphabet. Moreover, it also includes typefaces that are placed in a wave sequence.

Overall reflection of moodboard: For these moodboards, it reflects more of experimental and nature like fonts that I am drawn to when thinking of my place. But I think that in regards to the emotion of peace, I want to look for more fonts that inspire me for the feeling of peace. Maybe something less structured/solid and more fluid and possibly incorporate the idea of fading animated fonts. In saying this, the moodboards still inspire me too.
