Final Publication: (Week 11-Wk 12)

Overview:

Here is my final publication layout. With the final publication, I decided to go for a grid that is 5×6 in a B5 size and had decided to focus on my poem as I felt that it felt very much connected to my feelings and findings of this place. Moreover, I wanted to keep this layout publication quite simple, yet not boring so that it feels relaxing for the reader to look at as well as so nothing was too loud or distracting.

In regards to the publication itself, I took a poetic approach by just using my poem throughout the whole publication. Moreover, to compliment and develop the poem of my place, I had just focused on my illustrations through the publication as I thought that it felt stronger than my photographs. But if I were to do this project again and or have done more to develop, I would have tried to develop ways of making my photographs and illustrations work together. Overall, I’m still quite pleased with the outcome and had enjoyed the process of the publication and had definitely learnt a lot from this project.

Also, if I haven’t had done my project on this place, I would not have found out about the rock community and other parts of this Lake. So, I’m really glad that I decided to make a jump and choose to do Lake Panorama for this project.

Upclose view (Pages/Spreads):

Also I forgot to mention in my presentation about the last page of my publication. If I were to turn this into something I would print, the green colour on the left side of the last page would have been like a pocket to put in the two typeface posters and or more quotes and reminders to relax people.

Another thing I forgot to mention was that the title of my project was named ‘Natural thoughts’ as I thought it had a nice ring to it and showcased the two sides of a connection. Mind and place. ‘Natural’ being the environment of Lake Panorama and ‘Thoughts’ being the unseen part which resembles the mind.

Lastly, for the publication, seeing as my project/ publication was poetry based, I really wanted to send a message to the people who see this, act as a reminder for people to take time off for themselves. To find comfort and reduce stress whether it be through nature/ natural environment.

” Look deep into nature and you’ll understand everything better.” – Albert Einstein.

(I just wanted to leave this quote as it feel like it relates to the concept of my work. Spending time in nature allows us to relax, reduce stress and really gives us space to breathe and think in times of anxiety and or stress.)
