Research/ Mind maps: (Week 2-3)

Ways of Expanding Ratatouille:

To begin my research, I created a mind map about the possibilities of expansion for my film. Through this mind map, I just wrote down whatever came to mind and things that I have seen expansions of with other films and things that I might want to see being a fan of the film too.

When it came to thinking about expanding this film, I started off by thinking and or assuming who the audience is which is explained in my other post using the poll/survey method to find my users. Next, I started to research and find the expansions that were already made for this film (which you can refer too in the link below), and what I found about the expansions were that there was a short 10 minute bonus short film regarding history and an educational video about rats. Also, I found out that there was a single player video game created back in 2007.

In saying this, I had an idea of either doing things like creating a series-episodes, a VR experience game and possibly or reviving the game they ah already created as it was rated a 7.5 on IMBd. I also thought of possible cooking shows, recipes comics and more. In the process I also thought of physical expansions too just to see the possibilities.

Concepts and things about Ratatouille:

I also had a go doing a mind map of the film itself in terms of the film’s style, location/setting, it’s characters as well as it’s main message, concept and ideas. I decided to do to also get a better understanding of the film as well as this could help me investigate more about its audience who could become my potential users.

Reflection: After having tried out this mind map, I decided to try and find out who my users are and where they could be. Also moving forward, I want to find out what they want to see being fans or simply just being someone who liked the film so that I may be able to understand what kind of experience my users would like to feel, witness and experience.
