Stop motion Exercise: (Week 4)

Trial 1:

So with our first exercise, we had to choose a word to experiment with and some how explore ways of communicating the word through the movement. Through this exercise, I tried to explore different ways of making the word ‘dance’. For this gif, I mainly tried rotating the words to give it a sense and feel of a foot tapping to the beat. Moreover, I also changed colours between frames to also give an expression of a night club or a dance party with the flashing lights. With the colours, I stuck to bright colours which are mainly used for a dance party which is red, green and blue. I think this came out quite cool and interesting, I think to make it more dane like I could have also actually individually moved the letters to a certain beat or timing. Moreover, I could have added to the word make it jiggle too as it still feels a little bit stiff in terms of the alignment but other than that still a cool outcome.

Trial 2:

With this experiment, instead of slightly rotating the word dance like in the first experimentation, I experimented with the word’s itself. This time, I kept the word in the same spot but tried to experiment with the size of the word. This one was quite cool in terms of expansion but I think this one could have worked out better possibly with the word growth. I don’t feel a sense of dance through this that much. Maybe I might try and combine both of these to see what it would look like?

Trial 3:

This time, I tried to combine the techniques and experiments I did in trials 1 and 2 and I think this one came out quite cool as well and probably more dance like. The only change and improvement I would have done was probably towards the colours. I wish I had incorporated green and blue to add that flashing light affect. Also, would have cleaned up the lines a bit and maybe even changed the font to make it more groovy or dance related.
