Understanding Narrative Arcs/ Homework: Wk1

Understanding film language (Week 1-Tatiana’s class): In the first week of class, we got to understand the basics of the structure of a film through a lecture, exercise and homework that involves got us thinking about the short films we were required to watch.

Creating a Hyperlapse (Week 1- David’s class): Trialing and creating a hyperlapse in our neighbourhood.

Understanding Film Language Exercise and Homework: Wk 2

Understanding film language Part 2 (Week 2-Tatiana’s class): After having learnt more film techniques and the language used within film, we were tasked to do an exercise based on camera angles, shots and movements to have a better understanding of film techniques. (Also includes a homework task.)

Creating a timelapse using a DSLR (Week 2- David’s class): Learning how to make a timelapse using DSLR.

Class title sequence exercise (Week 3-Tatiana’s class): Understanding Typography used within Title sequences.

Stop motion Exercise: Wk 4

Creating a stop motion through photoshop (Week 4-Tatiana’s class): Exploring stop motion by choosing words and exploring ways of moving them to resemble the context of that word. (1920 x 1080)

Stop motion Homework: Wk 4

Creating our own stop motion through Photoshop (Week 4): After having experimented with the word dance, I explored other words to animate and practice with.

Uploading my videos and some of our group’s work (Week 5): Uploading some clip resources to the class’s shared Youtube channel.

Understanding colour through film (Week 4-Tatiana’s class): To understand and learn about how colour works, we had an exercise to look at the colours used through certain scenes of a film.

Promo Video Research: Wk 2

Researching Promo Videos (Week 2): In order to know where we want our promo video to go, we started to research other promo videos to get us inspired and get our creativity flowing.

South Campus Shot list (Week 2): After having learnt narrative arcs and film techniques, we started to experiment and explore some possible shots and or techniques we could use for our promo video.

Generating interview questions for our promo video (Week 2): At the start of this week, our group started to think of some possible interview questions.

Dolly zoom/ Vertigo trial: Wk 3

Exploring gimbals through ZY play (Week 3): For our first exercise, we trialed the dolly zoom and vertigo effect using the gimbal.

Exploring gimbals pt.2 exercise (Week 3): Exploring an area (front) within the campus through the use of movement techniques through a gimbal.

Exploring types of movement/ Thumbnails (Week 3): After having explored shot and angle techniques, we then tried to explore different types of movement techniques around the locations we chose at the campus.

Choosing background music for my promo video (Week 4-5): Before starting my promo video, I decided to look for some background music to fit the feel of my video.

Storyboard Ideas/ Research: Wk 4-5

Creating a storyboard (Week 4-5): After having viewed the clips that I wanted to use and possibly use, I started to form a montage storyboard of the campus.

Trial Promo Video & Reflection (Week 6): Trialing my promotional ad for AUT and reflecting on the video; what I did well and what could have been improved.

Mind-maps and Questions to ask myself (Week 2): For this week, I started to just brainstorm and think of possible concepts about what my video could be about and what approach I want to take.

Title sequence and moodboard Inspiration (Week 3): Gathering static, kinetic, motion graphics, moving image and title sequence examples for inspiration to create our own short film.

Creating a storyboard, experimenting as well as getting references (Week 4): After having started to think of some possible video ideas, I started to look into the possible style of stop motion for my film.

Writing up my storyboards (Week 5-6): After getting inspiration, direction and the style of my film, I started to bring my ideas into a storyboard and layout the scenes for my film.

Lake Panorama is my place of serenity; my place of rest. A place for me to escape the busyness of life. When everything in life seems to speed up, Lake Panorama helps me to slow down.

This place reminds me to breathe. In times of stress and anxiety, Lake Panorama is always there to comfort me in times of need.
