Typographic Selection and Project Intro: Wk1

Understanding Typeface (Week 1): We were tasked to select 2 favourite type families and describe the differences and similarities by using the anatomy of typography. Also, start our mind-maps for our place.

Understanding my Typeface skeleton (Week 2): For my chosen typeface (Joanna), we were tasked to redraw its anchor points so that we could understand the making of the typeface letter better. Also, we pointed out its anchor points to understand its skeleton.
Photographic Investigation/ Mind-map Re-defined: Wk 2-3

Investigating our place through Adobe Capture (Week 2): For this week, we experimented with Adobe capture to capture textures, patterns that couldn’t exactly be seen with colour or is obvious to us. Also, in the process, I redefined my map.
Concrete Poems/Final Poem:Wk 3-4

Creating Poems in 2 variations (Week 3-4): We were tasked to create 2 poems that showcased the mood, the feeling of our place as well as the meaning. But alongside our poem, created a concrete poem to visually show the emotions of our place using letters/words.
First Type Explorations: Wk 3-4

Exploration of our Typeface’s skeleton/ Keywords (Week 3-4): Continuing on with our chosen typeface (Joanna). We had used the skeletons from last week and combined it with the textures/patterns from our place to create interesting typefaces.

Designing my icons (Week 3-4): During weeks 3-4, I created my Icons for our collaborative map. During the process, I tried to keep in mind its relation to my place.
A Community Within: Wk 4-5

Finding a hidden community within my place (Week 4-5): Carrying on with the research of my place, I came across lots of painted rocks around the area (some more noticeable than others.) During the process, I came to find a community that paints rocks to spread happiness and creativity.

Research Questions I asked about my place and more ideas explored (Week 5): For me to understand my place better and dig a little deeper, I decided to ask myself more questions through the questions I had researched. Also, I did further research on my ideas to expand it.

Cinema-graph workshop with David and Marcos: For this session we worked with David and Marcos to try and understand what cinemapgraphs were and how to make them using photoshop.

Creating my own panorama: It is now my turn to create my own panorama of my place. After getting use to google street view, I experimented again but this time to some at my place.

Exploring colours for my Type Specimen: After having finished my typeface from A-Z, I started exploring layout and colour of how to present the letterforms.

Exploring colour palettes: After getting feedback about my colour choices, I was encouraged to explore some colour palettes and colour combinations to look at more possible looks for my work (in regards to colour.)

Refining my typeface: After receiving the feedback on my typeface, majority of the comments were mainly towards the curves and the kearning which I decided to refine and fix, for it to look better.

Finishing off my Joanna poster: This week, I went back to my Joanna poster to refine it and fix it up, while trying to make this cohesive with my own typeface poster and publication.
